On July 18, 2025, Brenda joined the celebration of the promise fulfilled by Jesus, her blessed hope, for whom she served for many years. Brenda was a preacher's wife and supported her husband's call to the ministry with great vitality and patience as well as her church family. She was a member of Blue Springs Primitive Baptist Church, and Beta Sigma Phi Laureate Alpha Lambda Chapter of Bristol, Tennessee.

Brenda is preceded in death by her husband (53 yrs.), Elder Johnny Bowlin; daughter-in-law, Christy Yonz Bowlin; sister, Ruby Hall; mother, Belva Rutter and father, Ruben Leonard. Surviving family members are her children, Kimberly Bowlin; Brad Bowlin (Shelly); and Matthew Bowlin (Amanda); brothers, Wayne Leonard (Shirley) and Frank Rutter; and sister Carolyn Rutter; three granddaughters, Emma, Madilyn, and Natalie Bowlin. In addition, she is survived by many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
